Queen Kong

Featuring Robin Askwith, Saucy British Cinema star of the Confessions... series and 'Carry On Girls'. The British, despite being under the delusion that they hold the benchmark for irreverent comedy and intelligent drama, have occasionally proved that they are exceedingly good at being really bad. Which is nothing to be ashamed of.
Father Christmas gave me the book many years ago and I still haven't got round to reading it yet - I may take it with me if I ever need a lengthy stint in hospital.
Thanks to Donna for inviting me here, and hello to the rest of you. I've already been introduced to Mavis today, which was a pleasure!

Good heavens!

I saw Dino DeLaurentiis at Target yesterday.
Doncha just love Bible movies? Can you imagine the amounts of water poor Jesus must've had to turn into wine for this cast o' drunks?

Legend has it that George C. and Ava were responsible for the ban on actors at the Madrid Ritz.

I just tivo'd this on TCM.

"What are you on - some kind of new pill?"

Sugar Hill

"When gangsters kill her boyfriend, a woman enlists a Voodoo queen to raise an army of the dead."

TCM showed this little gem the other nite. You can picture Pam Grier throwing the script back at whoever sent it to her, b/c it's a really low-rent mix of all that is AIP, Pam, Blaxploitation, and Horror.

TCM is showing some great stuff this month, esp "Screaming Mimi." I already blogged about it; read it here.

Wild Wild Chest!

I couldn't have put it better myself:

Meg Ryan -- remember her?

Whilst searching for some kind of clip or trailer for Diane "Murphy Brown" English's upcoming, long-gestating (ie. did they scrap together that financing yet?) remake of The Women, I stumbled upon this absolutely mindblowing trailer for what looks like a straight-to-video gem:

I mean... where does one begin?

I've always had a thing for Ryan. I always liked the undercurrent of pure bitch that lurked underneath her screen persona even when she was towing the lead in the benign, big-budget rom coms that put her on the map. The fact that she dated beefy bad boy Dennis Quaid in his rail-blowing (allegedly!) prime only added to her 'bad girl luster'. No goody-goody starlet here!

More gems from the video rubbish bin of YouTube...

Watch Meg at her brittle bitchiest talking to Parkinson while doing press for that God Awful Jane Campion movie, In the Cut. Obviously hanging out for months with that pseudo-intellectual feminist film diva did wonders for her 'upbeat attitude'. Talk about awkward:

My penis will break off!

I don't usually post twice in the same week, but I found this and had to share. Anyone who has seen Blue Velvet knows that Isabella Rossellini is up for pretty much anything, but I was still suprised by her latest project called Green Porno with Isabella Rossalini. In this series for the Sundance Channel, Isabella dresses up like an insect and then demonstrates that insect's sexual habits. God help me, I may never watch regular porno again.

ADDENDUM: I did a more research and discovered that this is only available on the interwebs, which makes it seem a little dirtier.

You can find Green Porno at this link:

The Dentist 2

I've been having dental woes lately, so when I ran across this being shown on Chiller TV (alot, too) the other day, I had to watch. And boy, what a delight! How did I not watch these movies before? Corbin Bernsen is the man!

Put the glasses on!

In my opinion, one of the best fight scenes in cinema is from John Carpenter's THEY LIVE. It's not the flashiest, best choreographed fight ever filmed. It's just a good, solid five minutes of two guys beating the crap out of each other because one guy wants the other guy to put on a pair of sunglasses.
