Heil Honey, I'm Home. Canceled off BSB (the square dish people if I remember right...) in 1990 after one episode. As Jeffrey Ross stated today, "if it's not offending someone it's probably not a joke."

Archive.org has started to list Arthur Askey and Will Hay films. Both are great and the kind of films that beg the question of "Why no US distribution?" It's not like there's a wealth of exclusively understood-only-by-the-British references. I will say that for once when I went to archive-org to look them up, (ex: Askey and ex: Hay)I was not presented with endless garbage occluding my search as is so often the case. So, yay.

I'd prattle on about their history and careers, but resources for that will hopefully be evident through the links provided. Instead just enjoy the comedy, IMHO underappreciated in their own country. We tend to rhapsodize about the Marx Brothers and W.C Fields, but Hay and Askey (along with Formby and others)were providing top notch comedy for the era that just never made it over here. Well, now, over here is the world.

I'm a big fan of this guy and his "bad habits" are no less than what I would expect from any self respecting British comedy production perticipant. From Gizmodo. Peter Serafinowicz: "Torrenting is probably too hassle-y for the average viewer: Installing Transmission, VLC, perhaps re-encoding to watch on my TV—but I'm pretty techy (ok, a geek) and have been doing this for years. ......................In the meantime, I'll be suing myself for pirating my own show. And I'm pretty scared, because I have an amazing lawyer."

what WAS my summer viewing?

Well, really, amongst other things, The Collector, The Wrong Box, With a Friend Like Harry, Let the Right One In, the ultra-disappointing Watchmen and the Zeitgest films, I've been going to bed each night watching a different Carry On film in no particular order. Quite comforting and lashings of idiocy.
