More from 'The Oscar'

Agent Uncle Milty

Peter Lawford as disgusted friend "Steve Marks"

Girlfriend/botched abortion victim Jill St JohnStudio head Joseph Cotten

Since Mavis' AC is broken and it's over 100 here, we're cooling off by watching "The Oscar." Or rather, she is, and I was inspired by her post to put up these screengrabs I took the last time I watched my own DVD copy. These are from Stephen Boyd's bad dream. Everyone should have one! A copy of "The Oscar," that is. Then again, this dream sequence is pretty hilarious.

  1. Darn, Netflix doesn't have "The Oscar," but they've got "Oscar" w/ Sylvester Stallone. Is that similar?

  2. Oh man, wish I coulda been there! Love that movie! And remember as Hymie sez..."ya lie down with pigs..ya get up smellin' like garbage..!" Ain't it the truth.

  3. TCM has been showing it. I don't know how Robert Osbourne gives the intro with a straight face. I'm surprised Netflix doesn't have it!

  4. I've never seen this movie before. Wow, it definitely had some stars in it. Hope you get your AC fixed soon.

  5. Rebello and Marguiles were hilarious in their intro to it on "Bad Movies we Love". They had a giant blond beehive wig on the coffee table and showed clips of all of Elke Sommer's 'dos from the film! Osbourne doesn't camp it up-I don't think he'd know how to anyway!

  6. This movie is one of the greatest showcases for my beloved orange Creamsicle hair. I would love to have that hair color, but they don't make wigs or dyes that shade anymore!

  7. Eve, you're right - "Creamsicle" is the shade of Jill St. John's hair, who, despite Elke's massive wigs, steals the show.

  8. Also, Eleanor Parker, Edie Adams and even Hedda Hopper sport glorious Creamsicle hair! God, how I want that color.
