A Newcomer at El Madhouse

from one of my favorite movies - "Screaming Mimi," 1958. Keep an eye out for it on TCM; it's been remastered (I hear) and is now on DVD, though I treasure my bootleg copy. With a cast that includes Anita Ekberg, Gypsy Rose Lee, Philip Carey and The Red Norvo Trio - what's not to love?

PS. Music by Mischa Bakaleinikoff

I once stayed in his former Hollywood Hills home! It still had the original basement theater seats. Check out his other credits.

THis movie turned up on Creature Feature(of all places!!)when I was a kid and I was SO dissapointed..not no more..I'm looking forward to the dvd!..
The music I most associate with Mischa Bacalinicoff, and LOVE..is his music for The Vampire Bat that became stock music for tons of Grand National B-Westerns in the 30s and 40s..

I can't imagine seeing THIS as a kid - what a weird, fetishistic film! YES! MB's music is ingrained in so many of our subconsciousness' - especially that very music. When I found out it was his house I was thrilled!

Gotta check it out, I studied with June Havoc (yes, Dainty June)when I was a mere lad... there is some film of her & Gypsy Rose Lee. She was amazing to work with!
