VIVA Anna!

How this movie was included in the Critic's Choice catalog, heaven only knows, but I had to look it up once I read the description: "Biller's faithful homage to '60s and '70s sexpolitation-with a feminist twist..."

And then the more I read about her, the more convinced I was that this chick is "one of us"! Hooray!!! It's on Netflix, too!

Now, I have two questions: How did she raise the $$ for this? It doesn't look that cheap! AND: ANNA, will you give ME a job??

I like her style. They all play it so straight and it is hard to tell if its from THEN or NOW. Love it

I admire that she writes/directs/stars in this film.

she shot on Dolby Digital,
Projection Format: 35mm, 1:85

I am most impressed that her LA contacts got her access to shoot on a backlot for "city scenes" -- she probably got a good rate or used a ton of budget for that rental.

Her next project from her web page:
I'm thinking of jumping back a decade or so to the early 1960's and doing a film that takes place at a cheap carnival, with the main characters as burlesque dancers, possibly in Britain. The main inspirations for it so far have been the Joan Crawford movie Berserk, the movie Nightmare Alley, and pulp novels from the 50's and 60's. It will involve a woman who's studying witchcraft, a hunky police officer, fairy princess and unicorn fantasies, sexual perversion, emotional pain, and a burlesque club in the 1960s.
